To celebrate the New Year, we went over to one of my best friends houses last night. I am so blessed to have some really close friends. There are 4 of us that are super close and will most likely always be. They’re the kind of friends you can act like a complete idiot around and they will still love you. You can be hateful and mean, and they will forgive you. You can go shopping with, and they will be honest with you when an outfit makes you look fat. You can be pursuing the wrong things in life, and they will confront you. You can sit and cry with when life gets tough, and they will listen and encourage you to keep pressing on. These kind of friends are very rare, and I am so lucky to have them in my life. I love you girls and wish you many blessings for 2009!
Jay and I brought over our “photo booth” last night so that while we were celebrating, we could have some fun with our camera. I used my white seamless and set-up my new flash to bounce off an umbrella since it was pretty dark in the house. Up until now, I have used only natural/available light for all my work, but have been wanting to learn how to properly use an off camera flash for awhile. So we just got our new flash and last night was the first time we broke it out to play with. Off camera flash is a whole new world for me. To do it right, you really have to learn the mechanics of how it all works. There is SO much more to learn than I ever imagined. But, you can do some really cool things with it, once you get it down. This is something I will be conquering in 2009.
So here are some images from last night with the flash. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out considering it was my first time to play. But I am already thinking about things I should have done differently and can’t wait to try! I called our little set-up my “photo booth” and had them act like they were in a little booth at the fair getting their picture taken!
One of the four of us, is in North Carolina right now, so she missed out, but here’s one of the 3 of us that Jay took!

And here are some of couples at the party…

And we had one of the guys take a picture of us….thanks Trent!
