{Baby Love}

I love 6 month olds!  They are the perfect age for photographers.  Not crawling yet, but starting to sit-up and interact more and more.  So cute!  Unfortunately, this little guy had a hard night and wasn’t really in the mood to be photographed.  So we didn’t have much time, but here are 2 of my favorites that we were able to get.

I LOVE this one!  How can you not adore his big, brown eyes, and adorable little mouth!

A night on the town…

Mmmm….I’m thinking of the most fabulous dinner that Jay and I had the other night.  We went to Abacus in Dallas for a fun night out.  We love to try new restaurants and unique dishes, so this was perfect for us.  The chef (Kent Rathbun) recently defeated Bobby Flay on the season premiere of Iron Chef so we were really excited to see if the food was really that great.  I must say, that the food and the wait staff far exceeded our expectations.  If you’re looking for a fun night out without the kids, I highly recommend you try it!

When my sister-in-law was in town over the holidays, we took her out to do a little shoot with her family.  I love all her children, but I think I might favor her middle child when it comes to the camera!  He doesn’t mind getting dressed all cute and letting me snap away.  I can’t wait until Holden gets old enough to sit in one spot for more than 2 seconds!   Here are a few sneak peeks from her shoot.

Ringin’ in the New Year….

To celebrate the New Year, we went over to one of my best friends houses last night.   I am so blessed to have some really close friends.  There are 4 of us that are super close and will most likely always be.  They’re the kind of friends you can act like a complete idiot around and they will still love you.  You can be hateful and mean, and they will forgive you.  You can go shopping with, and they will be honest with you when an outfit makes you look fat.  You can be pursuing the wrong things in life, and they will confront you.  You can sit and cry with when life gets tough, and they will listen and encourage you to keep pressing on.  These kind of friends are very rare, and I am so lucky to have them in my life.  I love you girls and wish you many blessings for 2009!

Jay and I brought over our “photo booth” last night so that while we were celebrating, we could have some fun with our camera.   I used my white seamless and set-up my new flash to bounce off an umbrella since it was pretty dark in the house.  Up until now, I have used only natural/available light for all my work, but have been wanting to learn how to properly use an off camera flash for awhile.  So we just got our new flash and last night was the first time we broke it out to play with.  Off camera flash is a whole new world for me.  To do it right, you really have to learn the mechanics of how it all works.  There is SO much more to learn than I ever imagined.  But, you can do some really cool things with it, once you get it down.   This is something I will be conquering in 2009.

So here are some images from last night with the flash.  I’m pretty happy with how they turned out considering it was my first time to play.  But I am already thinking about things I should have done differently and can’t wait to try!  I called our little set-up my “photo booth” and had them act like they were in a little booth at the fair getting their picture taken!

One of the four of us, is in North Carolina right now, so she missed out, but here’s one of the 3 of us that Jay took!

And here are some of couples at the party…

And we had one of the guys take a picture of us….thanks Trent!
